Ampla 11 is a sculptural stoneware piece made for DEORON at 3daysofdesign Copenhagen 2026.

SOIO makes pieces that hold space. Each one is built slowly, by hand, from vintage references translated into pieces for the present. The studio's interest is in presence — in pieces that ask to be lived with, not just looked at.

The Ampla Collection takes its name from vintage pendant lamps — known in Poland as amplas — wide, shallow bowls held on chains, popular in Polish interiors of the 1920s and again in the 1970s. The word comes from the Latin ampulla: the small vessel once used to hold sacred oils.

Ampla 11 is a rework of the very first vase in the series. The original collapsed during firing under its own weight. Rather than repeat it, Klaudia redesigned the base to carry the volume — keeping the proportions of the first idea, but resolving the structure so the form could finally hold itself. A piece built twice, with patience, around what didn't work the first time.

Like every SOIO piece, Ampla 11 is hand-built using the coiling technique — long ropes of clay stacked and joined, then smoothed by hand. The walls are kept thin so the piece feels light despite its scale. The clay is stoneware groggy clay; the glaze is minimal — satin matte — so attention stays on shape, weight, and texture.

Across the surface, cut-through carvings translate patterns found on vintage bracelets from the 1960s. The openings expand the functionality of the piece. The Ampla Collection focuses on pieces that are more than vases. They are made to live with their owners, to hold flowers, personal objects, small treasures. With a candle inside, light passes through the carvings, and the piece becomes a soft lantern.

A form from one era. A pattern from another. Made slowly, made by hand, made to be lived with.

  • SOIO is a Dubai-based ceramics design studio. Working predominantly in stoneware clay, with mixed materials introduced from time to time, the studio creates sculptural pieces that hold space and invite connection — handcrafted pieces designed to live with their owners rather than be displayed at a distance.

The name SOIO is drawn from the phrase Shape Of EmotIOns: a belief that what we surround ourselves with shapes how we feel, and that each handcrafted piece carries an emotional life of its own. The letterforms hold the idea — the steady S, the round O of wholeness, the IO drawn from the word emotion — a quiet connection between the inner world and the physical piece.

The studio's debut Ampla Collection draws its name and language from vintage pendant lamps known in Poland as amplas — once a signature of elegance in 1920s and 1970s interiors. Wide, shallow, suspended on metal chains to bear the weight of glass or alabaster, the form is at once heavy and soft. The word also echoes ampulla, the small vessel once used to hold sacred oils. The Ampla Collection translates these forms into a series of sculptural stoneware pieces that move between vase and case for treasures. Each piece is shaped individually by hand, resulting in subtle variations and the unrepeatable character of work made one at a time.

A signature piece, Ampla x Lume, extends the collection into furniture: a sculptural side table built around a handcrafted ceramic base, finished with a laser-cut polished aluminium lid. The contrast between tactile clay and refined metal sets up a quiet dialogue between softness and structure, craftsmanship and precision. Because each ceramic base develops organically, the opening is traced by hand to create its corresponding metal element — making each Ampla x Lume unrepeatable.

SOIO Studio works with private collectors, interior designers, hospitality spaces, and design-led brands. Pieces have been featured at UrArtU Gallery and Nahaté in Dubai. The studio's first international showcase was Isola Design Spots by Artetica during Milan Design Week 2025, followed by Downtown Design at Dubai Design Week 2025. SOIO debuts at DEORON, Papirøen, during 3daysofdesign Copenhagen, 10–12 June 2026, with a new piece — Ampla 11 — developed for the festival.

The studio is open to editorial features, brand collaborations, hospitality and interior commissions, and bespoke pieces.

  • Klaudia Domaradzka

    Founder & Designer, SOIO Studio

Klaudia Domaradzka is the self-taught Polish designer behind SOIO Studio, which she founded in Dubai in 2025.

Her path to ceramics begins in childhood. At nine, she spent every Tuesday and Thursday in a small ceramics studio at a cultural house in Poland. The practice returned four years ago, when her mother brought her to a class one weekend. She felt like she reconnected with herself and has been practicing since.

Klaudia moved to Dubai eight years ago. Working with clay became a way to feel grounded while living far from home.

"At first I experimented a lot. I tried different techniques, different styles, took classes and then left them because I realized I needed the process to stay intuitive and experimental. Like when I was nine years old and all I did was play with clay."

The shift came with coiling — working at scale, building larger forms by hand. An approach she describes as coming home.

Klaudia lives by the belief that good design is more than function: it should help us feel grounded, present, and connected to the now. She describes ceramics as a slow ritual — the wet, cold material under her fingers, the earthy smell, the endless possibility. The practice softened her, slowed her, and reconnected her with a younger version of herself who loved creating.

  • “I create pieces that touch on emotion and presence. Good design should not only serve a function - it should help us feel more grounded, more connected, more in the now.”

“The first version of this vase collapsed in the kiln, creating a crack in the base. I could have stopped there. Instead I redesigned the base so the form could hold itself. Ampla 11 is what came back.”

“I came back to ceramics looking for grounding. Working with clay slows me down. It’s the part of my day that asks nothing of me except presence.”

“Coiling changed everything. When I started building larger pieces by hand, it felt like coming home - to the nine year-old who used to go to ceramics class every Tuesday and Thursday.”

“I saw an ample lamp for the first time when I was shopping for vintage objects. Something about the shape shaped with me - feminine, soft, elegant. I kept sketching them. I wanted to translate that 1920s quality into something you live with now.”

  • A collection of sculptural stoneware pieces. Named after and inspired by vintage lamps. Signatures of elegance in the 1920s and again in the 1970s. Defined by their distinctive shape. Wide and shallow bowl turned upward toward the ceiling, holding light. Often suspended on metal chains to bear the weight of the stone. At once heavy and soft.

In Poland they are called amplas. The word ampla also echoes ampulla. A vessels once used to hold sacred oils.

Ampla Collection is a modern translation of the timeless forms.

handcrafted in stoneware clay   |   soft gloss   or   matte finish

I saw an Ampla lamp for the first time when shopping for vintage objects ( my little passion ). Something about their shape inspired me deeply. Feminine, soft, elegant, and unique. I kept sketching them. Imagining.

An important aspect of the collection is the functionality. I want the vases to be a part of everyday life. They are created to hold space for us and things we love.

In my home, I keep my blankets in one of the big pieces. The smaller forms keep my books, diaries, hair clips and creams. They are designed to coexist with and for their owners. Handcrafted pieces to adore and live with.

This collection brings together a selection of handcrafted ceramic objects created in the studio. Each piece is shaped individually, resulting in subtle variations that highlight their unique character. Together, they form a quiet dialogue between function, form, and material.

  • A side table that is at once sculptural and functional.

It is a signature piece from the Ampla Collection continuing the exploration of form and space that defines the series.

Ampla x Lume was created through a dialogue between organic form and precision. The piece began with a handcrafted ceramic base, shaped individually in the studio. Because the ceramic form developed organically, the opening was traced by hand in order to create a perfectly corresponding metal element.

The lid was then developed from a laser-cut aluminum sheet and carefully polished to achieve a soft semi-shiny finish. The contrast between the tactile quality of clay and the refined reflective surface of metal creates a quiet balance between softness and structure, craftsmanship and precision.

The removable aluminium lid lifts, revealing a hollow interior. Space for personal treasures.

As each ceramic form is inherently unique, the piece cannot be exactly replicated. Any future version would require a completely new design process, developed specifically around the character and proportions of a newly created ceramic form.

Functional as indoor and outdoor side table.
